In early 2014, Governor Cuomo announced the creation of a statewide collaborative initiative which aims to recruit skilled volunteers to assist in ongoing disaster preparedness and response efforts throughout New York State.  This developed network of volunteers will be able to respond to and help recover from future disasters. As part of this initiative, Southern Tier Volunteers! joined nine other Regional Volunteer Centers throughout New York State to recruit and engage as volunteers, professionals, trades specialists, social workers, students and apprentices, and other individuals with specialized skills that could help a community prepare for and/or recover from a potential disaster.

To sign up to be a disaster volunteer, either visit the Governor’s website at prepare.ny.gov, or register here on southerntiervolunteers.org and check that you are willing to volunteer in times of disaster during the registration process. Thank you for your helping making New York State more resilient!
